DRPLA란 무엇입니까?

In this video we interviewed Aliza Ben-Varon, a former Graduate Student working with Dr Jeff Carroll at the University of Washington. This research group has done a fantastic job in characterizing a mouse model that mimics the human form of DRPLA. Using genetic engineering, scientists inserted the human ATN1 gene into mice with 112 CAG repeats so that the mice would develop DRPLA. CureDRPLA is honored to announce that the American Epilepsy Society, another non-profit organization, has awarded funding to a research project to better understand epilepsy in DRPLA cell lines and mouse models. Epilepsy is very common in people with juvenile-onset DRPLA and is often difficult to control with medication, adding to the overall burden of the condition. We are pleased to see researchers interested in studying epilepsy in DRPLA and look forward to hearing more about the outcomes of this research. Dr Melissa Barker-Haliski was awarded a grant from the American Epilepsy Society in collaboration with Dr Jeffery Carroll (our own Chief Scientific Officer 😊) and Dr Joanna Korecka-Roet.
