CureDRPLA hosted annual DRPLA Research Conference, Oct 29-30

For the third year in a row, we organized the CureDRPLA Research Conference in Boston to bring together scientists funded by us, healthcare professionals and representatives of pharmaceutical companies.

At these meetings, we review the past year’s progress and invite scientists to present their latest research, which we then discuss in detail. We keep them relatively small—this year, we had 24 participants—as we value having everyone actively participate and share their perspectives on the work being done.

Andrea Compton opened the conference with the opening remarks. Dr Silvia Prades presented an overview of the DRPLA Research Program, setting the scene for the day by outlining CureDRPLA’s current status and future goals.

Dr Jeff Carroll, Chief Scientific Officer at CureDRPLA, presented an update of his research with mouse models and screening potential therapies for DRPLA. There were other talks by scientists and clinicians working on DRPLA projects. We wrapped up the conference with Paul Compton chairing a panel with selected leaders in the field to get their views on the future direction of CureDRPLA and how to roll out therapies for people with DRPLA across different countries.
